Older BoysAbout the Forceps Guided MethodFor older boys where a Plastibell® is too small, the Forceps Guided procedure is used for male circumcisions. This method starts with a local anaesthetic. Forceps are then attached to the foreskin to guide the cut, after which some stitching is necessary. Stitches are removed approximately one week after the operation - which can be carried out by the patient himself with little discomfort. For older boys, a pre-operative consultation is required, which can be arranged for the same day as the operation. Benefits of Forceps GuidedIn a Circumcision Centre clinic the Forceps Guided procedure takes only a short time for maximum patient convenience. Discomfort is minimised by the use of a local anaesthetic. Self removal of stitches can eliminate the need for a return visit or Doctors appointment.Supporting InformationIf required, more details on this and other methods of male circumcision may be found by visiting our More Information section. |
